My Solo-Trip to Glastonbury
Last weekend was a time of "firsts" for me. A Kundalini Yoga retreat and solo travel. Travelling to Glastonbury via Bristol by coach then bus I felt very far from home and on my own. At Bristol I didn't know what bus I was supposed to be getting. I just wanted "home" because I felt lost and vulnerable away from the comfort and safety I am used to. All I could do was sit with that feeling and accept that I was going to have to find a way to trust myself.
Once I arrived in Glastonbury, I stepped off the bus in Magdalene Street beside a hair salon that, funnily enough, shares the same name as one of my spirit guides. I felt as if I was "home". Unusual as only a couple of hours ago I was longing for "home". This lead me to ruminate over what "home" really is. Is it the usual, the routine, where your possessions are, what you are used to, the familiar? I came to the conclusion that for the human, yes. For the soul, "home" is not associated with the external. It is an internal knowing. A remembering. A safety. A holding.
Over the course of the weekend I noticed my mind calmed down. I was present. Nothing was illuminated. There was no pressure. I felt timeless. There was nothing to prove to myself. I did not feel the need to give myself deadlines. I could let myself be. The beautiful soul, who is a Priestess of Avalon, and owns the Airbnb I stayed in said "You have crossed a portal. You are in Avalon now". That has stayed with me. I felt as if I was in a different world and free. She also described how when you first arrive in Glastonbury everything is "love and light" then the land forces you to face your shadows. I can understand that. What is in the darkness must be brought to the light.
I was writing and writing first thing in the mornings and again during the day. All the thoughts I usually keep inside me because they are too shameful to be put down on paper were flowing freely. I was able to express anger towards the Universe, other beings and my spirit guides. Then I noticed the room I was staying in was purple themed; the colour one of my guides told me to connect to whenever I feel far away from her so I would feel she was close again. That was an "oh ok, you are listening, thank you thank you thank you!" moment. I experienced so many synchronicities over the weekend, that I took to be confirmation that I was exactly where I was meant to be right at that time.
I will go into more detail in my next few blogs about what the retreat brought up for me - guilt, shame, avoidance of feelings, forgiveness , partial releases and many more, as I feel each deserve to be honoured with their own space.
