What is Reiki?
Updated: Sep 18
Are you thinking about booking a Reiki treatment but are not exactly too sure what it is or what to expect? This post will hopefully help to answer your questions.
Reiki is a beautiful, gentle healing technique that uses spiritual energy to balance, heal and
harmonise. It treats the person as a whole incorporating the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Reiki means “Spiritual Energy” with “Rei” meaning spiritual and “ki” meaning energy.
Founded by a Japanese Buddhist priest, Mikao Usui, in the early 1900’s it comprises of elements taken from his years of training in Shugendo, Tendai Buddhism, Samurai martial arts and ancient Japanese cultural practices.
When you arrive for your treatment we will spend some time to begin with having a chat, over a cup of tea if you would like. For you to “arrive”, we can get to know each other and feel relaxed. During the treatment I channel universal life force energy by placing my hands gently either just on or above the body. You remain fully-clothed, lying on a treatment table under a blanket. You will feel extremely relaxed, probably the most you have ever felt. You may also fall asleep, see colours in your third eye, feel energy moving through your body, feel tearful or emotional. When you wake up you will feel lighter, refreshed and in harmony. You may also find that you feel uplifted, that the brain fog has cleared and you may have experienced insights.
Reiki has many benefits aside from being extremely relaxing. It can relieve stress and depression, fight illness, improve concentration, correct energy and chakra imbalance, and help the body to
heal itself.
